This participatory performance activates the Snow Leopard sculptures as living vessels, tracing the migration of bee colonies from summer to winter. Together with twelve local schoolchildren, Vahap Avşar opens the bellies of the sculptural beasts — symbols of Central Asia’s most endangered animal — to reveal the hives within. Frame by frame, the children pass bees and honey to new winter homes, moving with the slow, deliberate rhythm of beekeeping.

Swarm Works is both ecological and ceremonial. By engaging children in the ritual, the work opens a dialogue on how bees live, collaborate, and sustain one another — offering a model for human coexistence. After the ceremony, the bees are taken to an apiary, and their honey used to make Medovic, a honey cake shared with the community.
