The Horns Section. Performance by Tarek Atoui

This performance at the Bukhara Biennial will center on a newly produced iteration of one of Atoui’s sculptural instruments. Consisting of large horns activated by air and mechanical systems, it produces powerful, resonant tones, blending visual presence with immersive sonic impact. Presented as a world premiere, this instrument was specifically developed for the Biennale by employing nine traditional Uzbek horns crafted by Bukhara karnai maker Sharif Ostanov.
